CAST AWAY FINALISTS TO BE ANNOUNCED ON MARCH 16.

The judging panel are hard at work reviewing podcasts, and Cast Away will announce the shortlisted finalists on Twitter on 16 March.

Cast Away, the first ever awards to recognise all forms of Australian podcasting, hopes to inspire podcasters and podcast fans all over the nation. Having received over 200 podcast submissions from all over Australia, the judging panel is hard at work in the process of narrowing down the submissions in each of the 10 categories down to a shortlist.

The shortlist will be announced on 16 March via Cast Away's Twitter account @CastAwayAwards at 8pm (Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time). The list will then appear on the Cast Away website Finalists page.

The Cast Away judging panel consists of 23 podcast, radio, business and media industry veterans including Robert Loewenthal, Founder of Whooshkaa hosting platform, Radio Futurologist and journalist James Cridland, and ABC producers Kyla Slaven, Claudia Taranto and AFTRS lecturer Madeline Joannou.

The judging process began on February 7, and involves each podcast being reviewed separately by three different judges on the panel, who are looking to reward elements that make podcasting such a great medium for consumers, such as sound quality, ability to engage the listener, and value of audio content.

The winners of this year's 10 different categories will be announced at the Cast Away Awards on Saturday 1 April at Giant Dwarf Theatre in Redfern, Sydney.
